There have been a couple of note worthy releases this month. Here’s what I’m currently rocking:

Big K.R.I.T. ”Live From The Underground“
“I can’t front. I wasn’t feeling this album on the 1st listen. I was so into his mixtapes that my expectations for his album were sky high. Unrealistically sky high. KRIT is who he is. Thoughtful lyrics with laid back beats. This debut doesn’t front on that…front? Whatever, this is a nice album for those interested. Check it out! “
Curren$y “The Stoned Immaculate“
“I’ve become a fan of this dude. I don’t even understand how. I’d heard him spit a while back but nothing moved me. Now I make it my business to check for every release. Stoner music for the youth , but better than Wiz Khalifa in my opinion. This album adds to an already extensive collection of “top down” (or window down) anthems. Whether you smoke or not, The Stoned Immaculate brings a “nice” variety to your hip-hop rotation. Cop that!”
50 Cent & DJ Drama “The Lost Tape“
“50 is 2 for 2 as far as I’m concerned. Between this and “The Big 10“, 50 has been putting out some top notch material. Unfortunately he still hasn’t learned that this is the type of good sh*t you save for your album. Never the less, The Lost Tape is somewhat better than the last mixtape by way of the features. The same artist appear but they are a little less annoying and intrusive this time. I came to hear 50 not the off shoots. Dope mixtape. Deserves a spot in your rotation.”
Dom Kennedy “Yellow Album“
“Honestly, I didn’t know this was coming out. Props for the tweet from the homey @ballcoachp By now you should be able to see a pattern in my rotation. I’m on some chill sh*t this month. Dom Kennedy is no different. His flow can be a little redundant sometimes, but it works for me. The tracks are a little hit or miss. I rode to & from work listening to this joint and I think that is probably the only time I’ll listen to it. Perfect to ride to.”
XV “Popular Culture“
“All props to the homey Paul. I never looked in the direction of this one. Honestly, there is a lot of hip-hop out there so it can be hard sifting through the bullsh*t. This mixtape is dope, and a possible candidate for my top 5 of 2012. I don’t know if it is my nostalgia as it relates to past pop culture references, or how everything comes together. XV’s flow is flawless. The beats set the tone perfectly, and the interludes are well placed. A lot of dudes albums don’t come out this good. Treat yourself!”
