So Rolling Stones magazine named their Top 50 Greatest Hip-Hop songs of all-time (with the help of notable producers/artist like Rick Rubin, Pete Rock, Talib Kweli and more). Here is 50-40 with my thoughts:
50. Outkast- B.O.B. “I didn’t care for this song when it came out. I feel the same today.“
49. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five- Wheels of Steel “An important record.“
48. Marley Marl- The Symphony “As far posse records go, one of the best!“
47. Funky 4 + 1- That’s The Joint “Another important record. Ladies!“
46. Salt-N-Pepa- Push It “Without of doubt this belongs on the list.“
45. Lauryn Hill- Lost Ones “This sh*t was nuts when it dropped. Should be a little higher?“
44. De La Soul- Me, Myself, and I “Love the song and video. Would be in my top 50.“
43. Audio Two- Top Billin’ “I’m from Brooklyn so you already KNOW!“
42. Boogie Down Productions- South Bronx “Oh, no Question. KRS One put the game on notice.“
41. 2 Pac & Dr. Dre- California Love “Didn’t love the hate from Pac but this song was still hot!”
40. Kurtis Blow- The Breaks “Without a doubt!“
